Right-wing populism in Portugal - the case of CHEGA

Abstract

The present work aims to analyze CHEGA's populist characteristics and the extent to which those are ingrained in the party. This analysis relies on three concepts of populism - as an ideology, a political-strategy, and a discourse - and links them to three different objects of study - the party literature, the party structure and the discourse of the leader, respectively - in an attempt to shed to light the populist elements.
